Keio University develops dual robotic arm with precise haptics technology

The system, developed under a NEDO contract, is based on a master – slave concept where an operater, as the master, makes the slave reproduce the same movements. In addition, when the slave touches something, the haptic feeling is communicated through the master, and presents the feeling to the operator as if he would touch the object directly. This robot makes it possible to work in remote places, automate processes in industries, families, welfare care, medicine, agriculture, etc., work in extreme or hazardous environments or play a musical instruments remotely.
