NEDO consortium finds new high performance porous thermoelectric materials

The porous p-type magnesium silicide-based thermoelectric material (Mg – Si- Sn) exceeds the performance of conventional materials by more than 60% and will allow to realize a low cost, high durability thermoelectric conversion module that converts unutilized thermal energy of 300 ~ 400 ° C into electric power, using waste heat of automobile engine production and other industrial fields. Cooperation partners were Hakusan Co., Ltd., and Ishikawa Prefecture University.
